Metal Products -BIC

Electro galvanised & powder coated coated finish

BIC has introduced the improved electro galvanised and black powder coated finish. This is designed to provide added corrosion resistance. The coating is however not a 100% rust prevention guarantee. It is still the end customers responsibility to periodically paint / touch up any damage to the powder coating finish. Rusting is not considered a manufacturing fault and as such does not constitute a warranty claim.

Made-to-measure special sizes

A made to measure service is available for gates, railing and fence, where stated.Contact us with your details via phone, email or in store. Standard finish on Made-to-Measure metal products is primed only unless otherwise agreed. Primed finish needs to still be painted. Due to physical constraints, special sizes may not always look exactly the same as the picture in the brochure.

Fittings packs

Unless specified, all metal gates, fence and railings are supplied with a fittings pack to fix to timber, brickwork or metal posts. Screws, wall plugs and rawl bolts are not included in fitting packs. Nuts & bolts must be painted after fitting to prevent onset of rust. Moving parts will need to be regularly painted.

Posts

Due to the weight of the gates, care must be taken to ensure that the post or brickwork is strong enough to support them. Height of ball top posts do not include the ball. Blank metal posts will require on site drilling to fit the hinge and/or latch brackets. Take care to ensure posts are long enough to suit the ground conditions, particularly for fencing on sloping ground conditions where longer posts will be required.

The responsibility of the fence line and height of the fence remains with the customer.

It must be remembered that timber and bamboo are natural products and will be subject to movement and weathering as they season.  It is not uncommon for small splits to occur (called shakes) in timber when drying and warping when timber is allowed to dry too rapidly.  These will normally go back when the humidity rises.  This is nature at work and should not be considered a fault. Acceptable limits are defined in the relevant British Standard

Composite products can appear patchy / darker in places when unpacked. This is common and is only the moisture from within the product drying out. This product will weather naturally like timber or any other outdoor product, location and exposure will increase the process. Composite fencing has greater tensile strength than concrete and can flex.

If at any time one or more of the conditions shall become or be declared invalid, illegal or unenforceable in any respect under the law, the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions hereof shall not in any way be affected or impaired.  These conditions and every contract made pursuant thereto shall be governed and construed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England.
